SPRING FLING! Floral Workshop 2025

I am thrilled to be part of a collaborative workshop coming up on April 30th!

You know that I love alcohol inks, and am now enjoying the experience of creating with acrylic inks. In fact, I am drawn to all types of fluid art mediums. You may also know that every week, I co-host a free YouTube event with two fellow artists, Kimberly Deene Langlois and Kellie Chasse. We have a blast doing quick 10 - 15 minute creative challenges on our MAKE TIME TO CREATE YouTube channel.

Well, the three of us are hosting a LIVE, 3-HOUR WORKSHOP via Zoom, April 30th from 6pm to 9pm Central Time. We'll each be teaching techniques and doing a project tutorial in a different fluid medium (with a lot of fun and laughs along the way). We'll also each be giving away one of our online classes to three lucky winners at the end of the event.

If something comes up and you can't watch live, we'll be sending out a link to a recording of the entire workshop for you to watch at your convenience, as many times as you'd like through the end of the year. For pricing information, requirements, and links to the supply lists, please visit our information page.

Here are the three project tutorials:

FLORAL CIRCLES WITH ALCOHOL INK - with Kimberly Deene Langlois

In this workshop, we’ll create a beautiful floral composition on black round synthetic paper. We’ll explore various ways of creating loose florals that glide across the page using gravity and air to move the ink. You’ll learn how to direct the inks in subtle ways that bring life to your designs. We’ll also apply detailed accents to our paintings in ways that add lovely dimension and interest.

BONUS: Learn how to finish your artwork by sealing it, adhering it to a cradled wood panel, and finishing the sides.

LOOSE WATERCOLOR FLORALS - with Kellie Chasse

Join me for a relaxing and expressive watercolor workshop where we’ll explore the beauty of loose floral painting. Using vibrant, flowing washes and minimal brushstrokes, you’ll learn how to let go of control and embrace the natural movement of water and pigment on paper. We’ll build soft, layered petals, create depth with color mixing, and add simple details to bring your florals to life.

ACRYLIC INK FLORALS ON CANVAS - with Beth Kluth

We'll be working with acrylic inks on canvas to create bold florals in an illustrative style. The acrylic ink will be used at full strength with a glass dip pen to create the shapes and some details. then we'll paint with water which will cause the wet inks to spread and bloom in amazing ways. You could also use a calligraphy pen, but I highly recommend trying the glass dip pen. It's a fun method of creating that doesn't require a steady hand - in fact, wiggly lines give the florals more depth and personality!
